About Bethel

Bethel History

Bethel Lutheran Church is a “Welcome Place”. We are a congregation of the Nebraska Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. Meaning “House of God” in Hebrew, Bethel’s long history in Omaha begins on February 29, 1916. We were organized by the Swedish immigrant population with 44 charter members. Pastor John A Johns answered the call as our first pastor.

We celebrate worship services every Sunday at 10:30 am. Sunday School for all ages including an adult Bible Study is held before the service at 9:15am. There are also special services during Lent, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

We are proud of our mission work at Bethel. Our Ladies groups are dedicated to making quilts and assembling personal health kits for Lutheran World Relief. We also have a strong group of volunteers who dedicate their time serving Project Hope, Table Grace and the Siena Francis House.

Bethel is very proud of its music programs. Our choir, band, brass ensemble and vocal ensemble are highlights of our ministry. Under the direction Dr. Stephen Lawrence, the choir has recorded their own CD and collaborated with other churches for local concerts.

At Bethel, “we are blessed to serve God and share our faith with all!”

About the Pastor

Our interim pastor is Pam Ciulla (pronounced choo-lah). Pastor Pam came to Bethel in August 2019. Prior to Bethel Pastor Pam served at First Lutheran in Blair. She and her husband Sal live in Bellevue.
